From Fairway to Farce: Ilorin’s ‘Pro’ Golf Course Goes Viral for All the Wrong Reasons! [Video]

A video of Ilorin Golf Club in Kwara, Nigeria, has taken the internet by storm, but not for its lush greens—because there aren’t any.

The clip shows a woman walking across a barren, dusty field that’s supposed to be a “pro” golf course, sparking hilarious reactions online.
Ilorin Golf Club, per GolfPass, is a public course in Nigeria, but its exact founding date remains a mystery—listed as “built in 0.”

Golf enthusiasts are scratching their heads, as the course looks more like a desert than the pristine Augusta National, which went viral in 2022 for a YouTube stunt by Dude Perfect.

Augusta’s event featured Bryson DeChambeau and drew mixed reactions for breaking the course’s strict access rules, but Ilorin’s video is pure comedy—no grass, no glory.
The lady in the video said membership cost N300,000 for men and N200,000 for women.

X users are roasting the course’s condition, with one joking it’s a “golf club from TEMU,” while another called it “golf in da desert.”

Some speculate the course’s state reflects broader challenges in maintaining sports facilities in the region, but the humor is what’s driving the buzz.

The woman in the video, possibly a golfer or instructor, has become an accidental meme star, with users more focused on her than the course’s sad state.

This viral moment adds to Ilorin’s growing rep for unexpected online fame, as one user lamented, “Why Ilorin always dey gba in everything?”—a local phrase for taking hits.
